Lawrence County Traffic Citation Search
The Lawrence County traffic page says a traffic citation is issued for the defendant to appear before Lawrence County District Court. The court date on a Lawrence County ticket is not a trial date. A defendant who wants to plead not guilty and have a trial must appear on the court date to request trial. Lawrence County Traffic Courts
Most county traffic matters described in the official local instructions route to Lawrence County District Court. Municipal courts may handle city ordinance and city-issued traffic matters, but Lawrence County's official traffic instructions are District Court instructions. If a ticket came from a municipal officer inside city limits, confirm the venue printed on the citation. If the citation names Lawrence County District Court, use the District Court instructions and payment channels. If it names a municipal court, contact that city court for its docket and payment rules.

The defendant must appear on the court date to request trial, and the court date is the first step for a trial request rather than the trial itself.

Lawrence County No-Insurance Tickets
No-insurance citations have special local rules. If the vehicle had liability insurance before the citation date, the defendant does not have to appear if the matter is concluded before court. Proof valid before the citation date may be shown or mailed to the District Attorney's Office, P.O. Box 625, Moulton, AL 35650, with a request for dismissal.
If insurance was purchased after the citation, the local page says $204.00 court cost is due to the District Court Clerk with proof of insurance. If the case is not concluded before the court date, the defendant must appear. If the defendant did not have insurance at the time of the citation, appearance is required.
Note: The no-insurance proof date matters because proof after the citation does not use the same dismissal path as proof valid before citation.
Lawrence County Defensive Driving
Some offenses marked with an asterisk on the local traffic table may be eligible for dismissal after Defensive Driving and payment of court costs. The local requirements are narrow: the offense must be eligible, the defendant must have no previous moving-violation citation and no DUI arrest, and the District Judge must approve the request. Court appearance is required on the ticket date.

Classes are offered in Decatur, Hartselle, and Moulton. The local page says the class must be a state-approved live class and that online classes are not allowed.

Traffic Court vs Driver Records
