Why We Built This Site
Alabama gives the public broad access to many public writings under Alabama Code Section 36-12-40, but access still depends on which office owns the record and whether a confidentiality rule applies. The Lawrence County Circuit Clerk handles Circuit Court and District Court files, including civil, criminal, domestic, traffic, juvenile, child support, and warrant divisions. The Probate Judge handles probate, marriage-license, recording, guardianship, conservatorship, and estate functions. The Sheriff is the local custody and law-enforcement contact. We pull together the contact details, search portals, fee schedules, and request steps for those offices into one place.

Only the issuing court or government office can provide a certified copy with an official seal. We can point you to the right office, but the document has to come from them.
